Mono Lake (picture 68)

Mono Lake
Mono Lake is very salty - one of the most saline lakes in the world, if I recall correctly. Because of the make up of the lake, you get salt 'stacks' that grow from the bottom of the lake. You can see the stacks here because the water level has been lowered because of the demands of the surrounding area. Recently the level has been rising again, but this will take time.
