Diary (September 2003)

Mice that the cats brought in, and a bucketless Gerph. And a lovely quote from the Independent JPEG Group.

  • Where's my bucket.

I appear to have found this last year but failed to link to it. Anyhow, it's a picture of a gerph without his bucket. Don't I look sad ?

  • Mice.

Greebo brought in a mouse today. It was quite stunned and barely moving so I kept it away from him in a little box. He's (I'm calling it a he) got some water and cheese and seems to be a lot friskier now.

And then Greebo brought in a second mouse. So now I've got two mice in this shoe box. They're mostly sleeping now which may be because it's quite hot in here. I've dug out my camera and I've set it to grab pictures every two minutes.

Mum's named #1 'Minnie' because he was so small, and so I guess #2 must be Mickey. I don't know what sex they are, and I'm not going to go checking <grin>.

[Quote]
I see no real value in supporting the JPEG progressive modes (note that spectral selection and successive approximation are two different progressive modes). These are only of interest when painting the decompressed image in real-time, which nobody is going to do with a pure software implementation.
