Diary (June 2001)

Not many diary entries this month. Lots of TV finished this month, which made it very cack, really. Very quiet, anyhow. So quiet, that some people thought I was dead.

The end of The Invisible Man.
The end of Now and Again.
Margaret Colin.

Well, 'The Invisible Man' finished on Tuesday. That was annoying, because I was quite enjoying that. It's not wonderful but it's great entertainment.

Now and Again, on the other hand, was just great! I loved it. And tonight, it too finished with a cliff-hanger. Obviously, unlike Dark Skies, they wanted to keep it going. Which is a pity, because it would have been great if it had continued, I think. Ah well. Mail CBS, I guess...

So, who is Lisa Wiseman ? I only found out today, whilst looking up about the show that she was in Independence Day. Amazing that I'd not made the connection. Well, maybe not, but... well, there you go.

It seems, though, that there is a second series of The Invisible Man. <sigh> That's just cruel. Obviously, I'm glad there's a second series, but I'd gladdly have swapped.

Curious, though that The Invisible Man is a SciFi Channel production, and yet it's being shown on Bravo... Where's the logic behind that ?

Apologies for misspellings <laugh>.

Interesting to look at this weeks search results; it seems that this week the questions being asked were about JFShared, the Decompiler and Helen. Last week had a number of queries about Nicola, too... Is someone checking up on me, do you think ?

I've been really bad at replying to email recently and it's been accumulating. I'll try to clear some of the backlog tomorrow.

Buffy DVD arrived!

My Buffy DVDs arrived today ! Whee! I've got Season 2. And Smiths only charged me the amount that they should have, which is cool. 34 quid for season 2... neat <smile>.

Wrote an sprintf-like routine tonight. I'm quite pleased with it, actually, because it does most of the simple things you'd expect from an sprintf-like routine. FP processing isn't great, but it's overall not too bad...

Buffy pictures.

Trying to find some Buffy pictures today, I came across the quote above as the 'alt' tag on one of the images on the BBC site. Odd how the alt tags are sillier than the text around them.

One wonders why the 'Buffy' section of pictures on the BBC website has the index file 'spatula.shtml'.

Willow is 'cabbage' (pah, an insult if ever I heard one!), Cordelia is 'Crayfish', Angel is 'carrot', Giles is 'lobster' (whose lobster, though ?), Xander is 'twinkie' (that I can understand), Riley is 'cardboard' (ouch! a cutting remark about his character ?), Spike is 'sandpaper', Oz is 'haddock'.

A new month ?

Eek. It's a new month.

And what did I achieve last month ? Not a lot. Ah well. I'm tired. It's 10pm and I'm tired. I've not been able to concentrate on anything useful today at all <sigh>.

I've finally come to a conclusion that I'm going to stick to and not get too annoyed at. People are idiots. When they whine about something not being available, you ignore them. If they whine more, you don't know about it, because you're ignoring them. Why is this useful ? Because people whine about anything and it saves a lot of time to not worry about what they're whining about and just to get on with what you think is correct.
