G0tai asked me today if it would be ok for him to do a diary like mine on
the internet. I think it's a great idea - I'm hardly the one to ask, because
I didn't start it . I wish him the best of luck with writing up his
thoughts - I know it's sometimes quite hard. Particularly when, like tonight,
you feel too tired to write anything.
So, how do I feel tonight ?
Well, not so good, really. For the past few days I've been feeling pretty
lousy. And as Matthew pointed out, I tend to fixate on Helen when I'm
feeling depressed. Being a little further away, he seemed to be making a lot
more sense to me, and I know the situation myself.
And the situation is ? Why do I want to be in Cambridge ? There are really
two reasons to be in Cambridge. Ok, three, but the third isn't that much of
a worry for me because 'something always comes along'. Firstly, I'm close to
my parents. Second, I'm within easy travelling distance of Helen. And
thirdly, there is more likely to be more work around Cambridge for me. Oh,
there was a fourth reason - the greater chance of meeting women around here.
What's the problem, then ? Well, the first one - I don't actually visit my
parents all that often. After spending so much time at uni visiting them,
I've not seen them in ages. So I'm more independant than I was. Not much
more, but still more. The third one, well, I'm confident that I can find
work elsewhere if necessary. I'd said in the past that I'd move to where the
work was. I'd said it and I'd meant it. So why the reticence this time ?
Reasons two and four are the answer. The fourth one is interesting. I'm not
an outgoing sort of person. I accept that partially as the way I am, and I
don't do the socialising thing much. And I don't feel too much need to, so
long as there are people around I can be with once in a while. Sometimes,
anyhow. That may be untrue - I do need people, because I do get lonely and
I have this problem with being quite moody. But, I'm trying to make a point.
And the second. Ah, yes, the second. That has plagued me for many years,
hasn't it. So, I try rectify this deficiency. I spoke to Helen today. Why ?
Purely to ask if she'd want to go out some time - as a boyfriend. Her
answer, as I expected, (and after some confusion) was a solid no. I don't
know, I knew she'd say no. But it was more upsetting than I thought it would
be. I'm around Peter at the moment, so I'm being quite composed and normal.
From what she said, I think she feels that I'm too old for her. That, and
other things - I'd hardly suggest that there was only one reason.
But the object of the exercise was to see what remained to hold me here in
Cambridge. And what is there ? Pace.
I'm a little too upset at the moment to be giving any amount of thought to
how I feel and what I think. And I'm tired.
Nothing else of any note has happened today, and I don't really feel like
doing anything else.
Started reading Eon again last night; there's some lovely introspection of
the state of world affairs in there. Some of which my brother selected for
'Quotes of the day'. The general gist of what's put across is that 'The
Death' - a war in 2005 was purely a culmination of a technology imbalance
that could only be equalised by reducing the playing field on all sides. A
very clinical view, and one that might be taken by historians a century
later. The rationale behind it is summed up in a single paragraph :
![[Quote]](../images/quoteleft.gif) |
In restrospect, it seems completely logical that once a weapon is invented,
it will be used. But we forget the blindness and obfuscation of the late
twentieth and early twenty-first centuries, when the most destructive
weapons were regarded as walls of protection, and when the horror of
armageddon was seen as a deterrant that no sane society would risk.
[ 'Page 35, Brief history of the Death' by Abraham Damon Farmer, 2135; Greg Bear; Eon ]
|
![[Quote]](../images/quoteright.gif) |
That's one of the more amusing attributions I've had to make in the diary, I
think .
Eon was first published in 1985, which gives a good indication of the
feeling which pervaded at the time about the future. I don't think of it
like that much, and maybe I'm not keeping up with current events so much
(and I know I'm not) but now I feel less concerned about Russia and other
countries than I did then. Maybe it's just a change of perspective, but I
don't see there being a great gulf between countries that there once was.
Except in certain cases. And there are still cases of countries who are very
antagonistic.
Started on a simple URL fetching library today. I don't like it, though. I
think I've gone about it the wrong way, but I'll look at it more carefully
tomorrow, I think. I don't feel up to doing anything special with it right
now.
Oh, I just remembered, there's some ParseXML documentation I've written
which should be released at some point. Not sure what I'm going to do with
it, though...
Today has been quite fun. No, really, it has. I thought I'd put together
some CDs so that I could play them through the DVD player. Initially I
believed that the CD couldn't have directories, and so I'd have to
restructure my MP3s to be in a simple flat format. But no, it copes with
them in directories. Which means that I don't have to worry about redoing
the CDs in a special format for the DVD player. However, it doesn't cope
with MPEG 1, layer II files. Which means that anything produced with the
Acorn cmpa won't work. That's a bit of a pain. Fortunately CDCopy has this
nice feature that it'll let me decompress the files and then recompress them
again. There does seem to be a little loss in this, but it's not really that
noticable.
So, I've done myself some CDs for the DVD player. The first one I did,
Counting Crows, has a small problem in that it's got one track in MP2
format, which is a little annoying. So I'll do that again. In trying to find
out what was wrong and why it wasn't letting me play the CDs, I made three
new copies of the same set (the Arena disc) with different parameters.
Consequencetly I now know that it copes with multisession, single session,
and 8 speed written CDRs. I'm really quite impressed that it plays MP3s
anyhow, so I'm very happy with that. Not playing MP2s is annoying, but you
can't have everything, and I've only got a few MP2s now in any case.
That was the morning. In the afternoon, I went to town. I thought "I'll go
pay those cheques in". That's a good idea. As they probably ought to go in
so that I have some money. Handy stuff, that. Since this was my first time
in Cambridge proper, I was still finding my way around. I did quite well...
Initially I headed towards the 'party' sounds that appeared to be further
down the river - Peter suggested I go along the river-side. It was then that
I found the fair. So, there's a large fair in town this weekend. Scarey
number of people. But, doughnuts . Anyhow, I went into town, and as
I'd half expected, Barclay's is closed. Annoyed ? Slightly. Anyhow, to make
up for it I thought I'd go and buy some stuff.
Smith's had a buy-one-get-another-half-price offer on. Which is all well and
good, but it wasn't until Ben pointed that out to me that I realised. Ben,
by the way, jumped out at me there and surprised me. Actually he didn't jump
out. He just said "Oh, Hello Justin". But it scared me anyhow. Up till then,
though I'd been intending to buy one DVD, but with the offer it's too
tempting so I had to buy two . Anyhow, after much deliberation (and
believe me, it was!) I decided to get Sixth Sense and The Matrix. I toyed
with the idea of getting Twelve Monkeys, but stopped short of that. I also
bought a pen to write on the CDs in Smiths. That's not very exciting, though.
After that I found Waterstones. It's quite a nice big Waterstones, too...
And I picked up Eon and Eternity, which I've been meaning to buy for ages
(Greg Bear, in case you don't know). On a whim I went into one of the
arcades... and found HMV in there beckoning to me. So, there I got 'The
Getaway' by Chris de Burgh, which I have been wanting for a while. Just one
CD today, having spent quite a bit already! Then on to Dixons, with the
thought of seeing what their headphones are like. I listen to music whilst I
work, and the only headphones I have are a set of Virgin headphones I got on
one of our plane trips somewhere. So, I need some more. There were some
there that were rather nice, but I didn't think I should be spending much
more just yet. I have this thing about spending money. I tend to spend it
quite rapidly unless I watch myself, so I limit myself to just a few things
at a time. Seems to work that way.
Anyhow, I went home, and passed through the fair and bought myself some
doughnuts - which was quite nice .
Watched 'Sabrina, The Teenage Witch' film today, and then two episodes of
Charmed, and did a audio CD copy of 'August and Everything After' for Julia,
as her copy had been stolen. Hopefully, she'll like that. One of the nice
things is that I can stick other things on the end, and having only 50
minutes used, I stuck on the long live 'A Murder Of One' that I got ages
ago.
And after all that, now my legs hurt. And I've got a sore tummy, which I put
down to the doughnuts. That was quite a productive day, I think. I feel
quite good about it, anyhow. Maybe things are looking up.
Show next weekend. Don't think I'm going.
On the way home today, I bashed my hand walking through the gate. So, moving
it is really painful at the moment . Actually, I got a chance to talk
to Stewart tonight which was rather nice. He's a nice guy. Well, I knew that
anyhow, but still, it's nice to actually talk to him in person rather than
just through Egham or whatever...
As per normal, no real work done at home today .
What a fun day today has been. Apparently, Matthew's car got broken into
yesterday. That was the first bit of bad news I heard. I don't know any more
than that, because I was at The Wrestlers when people were talking about it
and it was William that told me, but I hope nothing was nicked.
It rained on the way home, so I got quite wet. It seemed to be stopping,
though, so I didn't get the full brunt of it. But that was a little
annoying. The air conditioning is odd in work; today it was making my eyes
water - they do that when there's a lot of moving air, and I'm tired.
And I tried MP3ing a CD tonight and found that CDCopy won't read the CD with
the CD Writer installed. I remove the writer from the System (in Control
Panel) and all is well, but when installed it either gives me masses of
defects rather than reading it, or it crashes when trying to read.
I've found a new series on telly to keep me amused - Charmed. Another one of
those fun and slightly strange series .
I've just found out that Chris Bazley has a link to the diary from his home
page - hello Chris! Thanks for the link .
Email from Stuart Halliday about the diary today; I guess I was a little
hard on the new sites for not saying anything. Maybe I felt a little
self-important, there... Oh well.
Dad rang tonight to ask if I was coming home this weekend, too...
Apparently Mr Kerby - my Tutor at Downham - is quite ill, I heard today from
Sue. He was a really great help through Sixth Form.
I got the Ray Of Light link wrong - it should have been
http://www.rayoflight.net/
not .com !
Buffy last night had Blink 182 on it, IIRC. I was very surprised. I believe
that was series 4, episode 9, I think it was. Not really sure. I think I've
got episode 8 for tonight. I know it sounds odd to watch them in a different
order, but that's not half as odd as it really is when you get really
confused.
Quite a fun day at work today; I think. I'm not sure. I think I'm just tired.
In fact, I know I'm tired. I was going to do some RSS stuff, but I'm just too
lazy at the moment.
Finally met Stewart Brodie today ! He's been on holiday since I started, so
I'd not met him, and even in the previous visits to Pace I'd not got a
chance to talk to him. He's not quite how I expected, but that's quite
normal, really...
Other 'big' news today is that I got my Pace ID card. Stunning, huh ?
Long email from Jennifer tonight; I hope she gets it together with the
person she's interested in...
Vanessa dropped me a couple of SMSs tonight and rang; seems she had a really
good final exam!
Ok, my amazement is... um... well, it's more than it was previously. The
Cybervillage includes a comment from a usenet article about RISCOS Ltd, but
yet not a mention of the fact that the programmers leaving prior to that.
Ok, so finally CyberVillage prints something, but it's still
slightly annoying that it is considered a more reliable source than, say,
one of the people involved.
And I wonder why I don't want to be involved with such idiots...
Wow - one impressive thing today;
Ray Of Light. It's a Flash
site. And Yes, it's actually quite impressive. Or rather I was quite
impressed with it on RISC OS, and I'm not seeing it 'properly'...
Got a lift home with David again tonight. I really must walk home.
Particularly as it's nice at the moment. And because I need to do
some exercise.
Long email tonight from Jennifer. So long infact that if I read it now I'll
never get to sleep. Sorry Jennifer, I've got to give this one a miss -
tomorrow I'll not play homeworld and will actually read and reply to emails.
Promise .
Oh, I did do some RSS work tonight, too. Nothing much though, because
Homeworld kinda caught me...
More comments in the newsgroups today about people having problems with F+
discs. I'm not sure what the hell they do to them, because I think that I
batter my machine more than most, and I've yet to have any form of HD
problem.
Ooh... Saw a new Corrs track - or at least one I'd not heard before - on TV
today...
A private lyric, because it probably makes me look desperate .
Was Private, but unprivated 6th September 2000.
Wrote a very simple RSS parser tonight. It's quite rudimentary, but it could
be the basis of an RSS client. At some point. Maybe. If I get around to it.
Watched Buffy on Sky tonight, too... Admittedly it was 'The Witch' from the
first season, but it's still cool. Willow has long hair. Which is quite odd.
And still cute. But then she could look cute whatever she did . Well,
nearly, anyhow.
Updated the diary to remove the <p> tags which surrounded tables in an
attempt to make tables look better with non-tables browsers. I just can't
seem to win with those things, unfortunately. Oh well, I'll not worry about
it, there's not a lot of call for a non-tables browser nowadays.
I just turned over to StreetMate on 'Trouble', and they're around Glasgow.
They grabbed this girl in one of the bars and asked if she'd be up for their
run around trying to find people. Her comment was "If you can find talent in
Glasgow, then yeah I'll go along with it". Not that I think Glasgow is devoid
of 'talent' as she put it, but it's amusing anyhow .
Nothing much done today; watched Cocoon 2: The Return which was quite fun,
having only ever seen the end of it before. And then saw the end of Pulp
Fiction.
I'm so tired today. I think it's just from not having slept enough.
Yeah, that'd be it. I'm slowly working my way through the mail that I've been
getting over the past few days; there's loads and I'm getting quite behind.
And the diary isn't uploading for some reason. I'm not quite sure why, but
it's not doing what it should do. Which is really, really annoying.
Someone at work was talking to me about the diary today, which was kinda
amusing .
Oh, Alba have
launched their internet TV.
It's taken me about three hours to go through my email tonight. I'm
nearly on top of it now, but it's still quite a bit behind what it
should be .
Peter asked me yesterday whether I was going to the South East show. As I've
said a couple of times before, I don't want to be going to any more shows.
Apparently Helen was asking after the diary yesterday. Or the day before. I
don't know which. Unfortunately I've not yet got the upload sorted properly,
so it doesn't upload correctly at the moment. I'll get it sorted tomorrow, I
hope.
Coo... Oregano 1.04 has 'alt' tag text when the images haven't been fetched,
which is a little better...
Something I discovered yesterday is the <label> tag. This is used to
indicate what text is associated with the radio button, checkbox or other
input field.
What's happened today ? Nothing much; I was home late-ish tonight; which
isn't all that great because I'm knackered now. But. Dad was here this
morning, to see us and drop off my little parcel. I've got some new 'stuff'
which I've fitted tonight. A new harddrive, and a CD writer. So, that's been
my job tonight. Fit the CD writer and ensure it works. So... it works...
Went to The Wrestlers again today with some people from work. I don't
remember much else about the day, though.
No diary tonight; too tired. Sorry.
Nothing much happening today really... Oh, David gave me a lift home tonight
so that I could watch Buffy which was really nice of him .
Third day at work today; ended up spending quite a while there doing
'stuff'. Tomorrow I'm going to try to be in work at 9 and set off for home
at 5:30. It won't work like that, but no matter :-)
Spoke to Matthew today; and to Dave Upstairs, too, which was fun. Seems that
amusing things have been happening. Hmmm... Also had John Balance call me at
work which was somewhat strange, but no worries.
I've said to a few people I'd do more SVG work, but at the moment I'm just
too tired to do much. Unfortunately I reached the end of my 'reply to the
emails that have piled up' tonight as I reached the 'Diary' batch. Sorry;
I'm just too tired.
Oh, Peter's set up the network here... which is quite fun...
I don't think the diary uploaded properly last night, unfortunately. Oh well.
First day at Pace today; lots of time being introduced to people and how
they do their work. It's useful to know that I know the source quite well,
and can probably step straight into doing some work. I'm about 20 minutes
walk from work, which is much better than I anticipated.
It was quite fun, anyhow !
Tonight was mostly settling into the flat and chatting to Julia and Peter
about... well, anything really.
Oh, and Vanessa rang to chat for a while tonight, which was really great
.
I have no idea why I can't connect to any part of the internet at the
moment. Every time it connects I get nothing back, data-wise. On three
accounts. Could be the fact that they use NTL. Could be something else. I
don't know. Sort it out tomorrow.
I'm taking up a lot of room in the living room, I think. Hopefully I'll be
able to squeeze my stuff in a bit smaller...
Slept quite a bit today. Packed up more things to go to
Peter & Julia's. Hopefully I won't be imposing too much; it's going
to be a little crowded I think, but I hope we'll cope .
Start work tomorrow. It's going to be interesting. I've no
idea what it's going to be like, as I've never worked at a computer company
before - well, RISCOS Ltd was a computer company, but we pretty much
ran the office as we wished because that worked for us. How different a
'real' office will be, I don't know.
Bother, I meant to ring Phil tonight, but forgot. Oh well.
Tomorrow. Maybe, although I'm likely to be quite busy.
Well, I moved out today. It's quite strange. Lots of stuff packed into a
van, moved to Cambridge, unpacked and now I'm at home. Thanks to Dad for
helping me move ! I've had my first chance to play with their Sky box, and
it's interesting. I'm impressed with parts and less so with others.
Anyhow, I got a chance to watch Lethal Weapon 4 and Saving Private Ryan.
the latter of which was actually much better than I expected. A really good
film.
Tomorrow is rest and sort out stuff day. That'll be fun. Partly because I
didn't get to bed until 8 yesterday, and partly because I was doing lots of
stuff, I'm quite tired. In any case, I've left some stuff with Peter and
Julia tonight and I'll be seeing them on Monday when I 'properly' move in.
Oh, last night someone mentioned that they'd been looking at the SETI stream
example I'd left up and had sussed the 'character terminator'. In asking for
a hint, though, they made me find a bug in the stream creator. It's not a
serious bug, but it does mean that 'lines' were useless . Fixed now
though.
I'm considering doing RSS summaries of the diary pages, such that I can then
point people at the RSS summary and so that people can have a little
headline viewer application to check out the RSS pages. It's going to be
quite amusing to try doing the RSS without an RSS viewer, though...
Long time writing an email to RIG tonight. Like 4 hours. Ouch.
Whilst trying to tidy up the machine today, I came across a load of users in
Newsbase that are really obsolete now. Things like the 'Fido' user that used
to pass around Fido uucoded packets to my machine for debatching - that's
not particularly useful any more! And, the one that amused me more was the
'Helen' user. That's the one which got mail that was being sent to Helen
such that it never actually reached her. Yes; there were a lot of pathetic
little emails, so I decided to filter off all outgoing mail such that it was
routed to another account. It's all 1998 stuff, anyhow...
Oh! How cool... I don't know this poem, but it's obviously one of mine as
it's in an email...
![[Note]](../images/musicnote.gif) |
Only you put a smile on my face,
When I hear your voice on the line.
Only you make the bad day seem good,
When I hug you and see you smile.
Only you can make my life complete;
So, can I take you away,
To where the sky is blue,
And the sea is clear,
And our dreams can come true,
And there'll be nothing to fear.
I know it's just a dream,
And it could never be
But can we be together,
Just you and me ?

It's ok, I'm not going to become all depressed or anything; it's just a
quite cool little poem - a little piece of history that I'd forgotten
.
Spent ages on the phone to Vanessa tonight. I'm going to miss her when I
move. Oh well...
I may have been a bit over the top in saying that Pace don't have a 20%
share in ROL. Well, it's true, they don't, but it's only .1% off...
Moving on Saturday; so the remainder of my stuff needs packing today.
Actually, a lot of stuff needs packing, because not much is packed yet.
Dad's coming with a van on Saturday to pick up stuff, and then we go to
Cambridge, drop a load of stuff off and then go home. Such fun. Oh yes.
Lovely comment from someone called Ruth about the diary today; many thanks
Ruth!
Well, I start work at Pace on Monday. Gary rang today to confirm that and
let me know the situation. Hopefully things will go well <crossed
fingers>.
Golly! The Register has
had a face lift! It's now got a non-standard colour compliant style to it
now which is great . Not sure I like the look of the side bars,
though.
I was going to have a Vesta for tea tonight - I just fancied not cooking
anything hard - and it appears that Safeway don't sell them. Which was
curious.
I had Keith today asking me if the Helen in Helen & Robin on
16th May refers to Helen
Rayner. The answer to which is, no, it's Helen Robin's wife. Who doesn't
really go by the name Watts, but I forget what it is. Sorry Helen.
Chatted to Matthew Godbolt for... oh, ages today. Rather nice it was too, to
hear a friendly voice that I've not spoken to in years. He's still with
Argonaut, still doing games things. With a new girlfriend, though. Computery
person. With a girlfriend. That means there's hope there for me yet.
Another biggy today, too... MS are to be split up. Ok, so it's been running
for a while this case and that was the expected outcome, but this is the
final judgement of Judge Jackson. Which means that basically there will be
two groups - the OS group and the Applications group.
The final
judgement has a couple of interesting sections. Clause 3.c is the
most 'dangerous' to my mind. It sets a form of precedent which is difficult
to work under, in my opinion.

I think maybe I was a little too strong in clarifying things for Iconbar.
Obviously I'm a little stressed at present. I could really do with a week or
so's sleep.
Amusing statement from Gareth on The Iconbar today...
![[Quote]](../images/quoteleft.gif) |
"RISCOS Ltd is not only still with us but we are planning at least two new
product launches later in the year! It is always disappointing when such
potentially damaging reports appear without being checked. Pace Micro
Technology (who have a 20% stake in RISCOS Ltd), who are developing RISC OS
for non-desktop applications and RISCOS Ltd are currently in discussions
over development policy, to avoid overlapping development, with RISCOS Ltd
continuing to service hardware and software partners, and users, in the

If you can read that last sentance out loud without taking a breath then
you're a better man than I. It still doesn't negate the fact that the
software engineers have all left, though. Actually Pace don't have a 20%
share in ROL.
Now I think about it........ there's some full stops to insert into there
where you feel they're appropriate.
Curious that the link to the diary and that on Drobe have been removed.
Anyone would think that they were either being censored or not felt to be
newsworthy. When the primary company in the market loses its engineers, I'd
say that was newsworthy. However, who am I to question their judgement ?
Oh, I asked about an SVG specification oddity yesterday on the developer
list, and... it's really a bug in the specification - to say that
I've had a positive impact on the specification is understating things just
slightly .
Oh, and I'm back from Glasgow now...
News from the Diary caught by Drobe today. No editorial, though.
I did get an email from Jim Nagel today - not pestering, I'd like to add! -
just asking what is happening. Oddly, Jim knows more than most because he
often comes out with us at Wakefield.
Nothing else much today; did lots more SVG work.
Glasgow tomorrow. Fun.
Buffy Marathon completed this morning with 'Enemies' and 'Graduation' parts
1 & 2. I'm on Buffy overload at the moment... I'm expecting to see stakes
and vampires on every screen I look at now .
Added 'don't close files after each transfer' option to !DCC which should
make it a little faster.
So, after a few days ago discussing Andrew Clover with Vanessa and David
almost randomly, and finding that she knows him, I find today that Andrew
himself had come across my webpages my chance and found a reference to
himself. If this isn't sounding like a strange coincidence and something that
means that this world is controlled in some way, then I don't know what does
.
Listened to a couple of Sampler CDs that dad sent up a while back.
- So! 'Baby Blue' - sounds very Crowded House.
- Y+T 'I believe in you' - quite a piano-y track; quite pretty, sounds
like someone I know but I can't think who...
- Neal Casal 'Best To Believe' - almost a country type sound to this; it's
rather a nice track, though.
- Uriah Heap 'Heartless Land' - guitar/vocal/keyboard track; quite moody
and pretty.
- Change Of Heart 'Don't Walk Away' - Wow! the intro grabbed me; it's very
80's... well, I think of it like that...
- Pallas 'Insomniac' - didn't really grab me
- Jethro Tull 'Hunt By Numbers' - hard guitar; nothing special
- Camel 'Sahara' - Instrumental; not bad
- JimiJamisonsSurvivor 'A Dream Too Far' - started out ok, but jumped to
being a normal harsh voiced track that I'm not overly keen on. It's not
bad, but it'sthe hard guitar/hard voice mix isn't something I like.
- Anathema 'Don't look too far' - slow track, a little depressing, quite
pretty.
- Verden Allen 'Loving you' - quite bouncy, and fun; sounds ok.
- Luca Turelli 'Warriors Pride' - quite a pretty voice and sort of old
style music. Very pretty.
I'm cited today as saying that RISCOS Ltd has closed down in Friday's entry by
The Iconbar. The actual text
states that :

change for a news website to make a quote out of context, doesn't it ?
My quick comment on this is that I don't make reports on the diary;
I make diary entries. Anything you see is my thoughts, views, opinions and
information. It's not guarenteed to be factually accurate, or anything more
than a record. I'm not a news organisation !
I'm curious where the correction for that entry comes from, though...
It's also quite amusing that nobody says anything about anything that's been
said in the diary until now, and then people look to see what's happening.
Ok, so it's just iconbar, but it's more publicity than normal.
Oh, and whilst I remember, id Software are doing a Doom for the next
generation (or words to that effect. Apparently, the employees issued an
ultimatum to two members of management saying that they were doing Doom, or
they could be fired. Please note that I only heard about this a couple of
days ago from DoomWorld;
which in turn got it from John Cormack's .plan). It's curious that part of
the incentive for the Diary comes from exactly that.
Today was my last day at ROL.
Where to now ? We'll just have to see, won't we... There's two offers open so
far, so we'll just have to see
Mass Buffy Marathon tonight... 'A New Man', 'Doomed','Goodbye Iowa' and
'Freshman' all in one night. Admitedly they're not in the right order, but
then again, it's Buffy! . Tomorrow should be Graduation 1 & 2,
which will explain somewhat how the highschool got nuked. Impressive.
I've installed the sound service stuff today; it flashes the screen when a
sound occurs. The idea is to notify me when something happens, rather than
nothing happening, which is the case if AMPlayer is playing. And it will
have other uses, I'm sure . However, it inverts the screen
momentarily. And that's slightly annoying.
Packing up today. Oh, that's fun. Yes it is.
All being well, there should be images of my
holiday last
year available now (again!). Just for you, and Julia .
